Wrapping up STORMBREAKER

I just finished STORMBREAKER and it ended with a bang.  When Alex or "Felix Lester"  arrived at Sayle Enterprises  he began to scope things out.  Just like his uncle,  at first Alex couldn't find anything wrong with the Stormbreaker computers.  As Felix Lester,  he was supposed to try out the new computers but instead Alex snooped around the building in which one of the computers was housed.  Alex was caught by one of Herod Sayle's assistants and was brought back to his room where he was staying while living at Sayle Enterprises.  The next day he was told to take a walk in the surrounding countryside.  When he reached a patch of high grass, a band of motor thugs with flame throwers and chains attempted to murder him.  Alex knew they were hired by Sayle.  Alex barely escaped.  Knowing that he couldn't go back to his room and without a lead, he went to the local library to see if the librarian remembered  what his uncle had been looking for there.  Sayle had said his uncle spent most of his time in the library during his stay at Sayle Enterprises.  He learned his uncle was looking up viruses and local caves.   Alex then went to the local caves to see why his uncle had looked them up.  He found an underground assembly line for the computers and heard warnings about bio contamination from the loud speaker.  He then was caught and brought to Herod.  Herod told him the computers contained a lethal virus that was going to kill all the school children in England.  In an spectacular escape Alex was able to stop the computers from releasing the virus just in time to save the day. I truly enjoyed the book and I would recommend it to anyone.

STORMBREAKERS cont. cont.

MI-6 proposed to Alex about being a spy.  Alex was reluctant at first, but MI-6 then used black mail concerning his nanny (Jack) and his future since they were in control of his inheritance and his nanny's visa.  Alex agreed because his future portrayed by the MI-6 was dim.  Alan Blunt the leader of MI-6, then told Alex about his top secret mission.  He was going to be finishing off the mission his uncle died for.  It was about a Egyptian born man which was by chance brought to England when he was a kid.  He became a millionaire in England and was going to give all the schools in England his latest creation by his company, Sayle Enterprises, as a thank you gift for all England has done for him.
The man, Herod Sayle, was going to give all the schools Stormbreaker computers.  They were the fastest and most technologically advanced  computers yet.  MI-6 was suspicious of him because he had hired a lot of guards and was acting like he had something to hide.  MI-6 then sent Alex to the training camp where all spies for England are trained.  It was a grueling two weeks for Alex as he had to face man and nature to survive.  When the time came for him to leave for Port Talon the home of Sayle Enterprises he was given his under cover identity.  He was going to go by the name Felix Lester, a kid who won a contest to be the first child to try out the Stormbreakers.  That is where I am in STORMBREAKER.

STORMBREAKER cont.

After Alex saw his uncle's car, he barely escaped out of the junk yard because some of the "bankers" were there.  They ordered the car to be destroyed.  Alex had leapt into the car for hiding because the bankers walked right past him.  He was able to get out of the car at the last second.  Alex was then able to get past a "banker" to his bike and speed home.  When he arrived home a phone call from the "bank" came.   The bankers said they wanted to talk about his uncle's will at the bank.  When he arrived, a banker named Mr. Crawley greeted him.  On the way to Mr. Crawley's office Alex spoted a sign that read 1504: Ian Rider.   When they got to Mr. Crawley's office a call came for Mr. Crawley saying he needed to report to the lobby immediately.
When he left Alex went into his uncle's office and started looking through his files.  While doing so Alex got caught and knocked out by the "bankers".  The next thing he new was that he woke up in a bedroom inside bank.  He was then taken to a dining room where he had dinner with the lead "bankers" who told him the truth about his uncle and how the bank is really a cover up for MI-6.   Then they made a proposal to Alex.  That's where I am in STORMBREAKER.

STORMBREAKER

Like I said in my last post, I have started reading STORMBREAKER by Anthony Horowitz.  The book starts with the death of Alex's uncle (Ian Rider) of whom he lived with and was raised by.  He was left in the care of his American nanny (Jack)  who is in her twenties and came to England for school.  His uncle was a spy for MI-6 (British CIA) whose cover up was being a banker. The head quarters for MI-6 was a bank as cover up.  Alex and Jack didn't know he was a spy.  The police said that Ian was killed in a car accident,  but Alex knew that  could not be true.  Ian would always wear his seat belt while driving and would make Alex do the same.  At the funeral Alex noticed people from the "bank" who his uncle had never mentioned were his coworkers.  Then when Jack and Alex returned to the house, his uncle's office (where Ian had never let Alex alone in) had been completely stripped clean of everything.  After that Alex wanted to look at his uncle's car in the junk yard to make sure that it wasn't a crash.  At the junk yard the car was sprayed with bullet holes.  That is where I am in STORMBREAKER.

Eagle Strike

I have just finished Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz.  It is the fourth book in the Alex Rider series.  It is a action series about Alex Rider, a teenage spy who works for MI-6 (the British CIA).  The book starts when Alex and his best friend Sabina are vacationing in southern France's beaches. The action begins when Alex spots his arch nemesis, Yassen Gregoriovich riding up on his Yacht to the beach. He is a Russian contract killer that Alex has fought in the past .  The same day Sabina's father gets severely injured by a bomb in the vacation house.
After following Yassen and learning he had been hired by multi-millionaire and world-wide pop-star Damian Cray, Alex decides to find out why the beach house was targeted by Cray.  While doing so he learns the truth about Damian Cray and his plot, Eagle Strike.  It is truly a great read and I suggest it to anyone who loves suspense.  Since this is the first Alex Rider book I have ever read I am moving on to the first installment of the series Stormbreaker.
